...Grandma Hilda... This is just a test page at the very beginning, a sketch pad, as it were...
This page is based around Grandma Hilda and Grandpa Alfred. Grandma Hilda was a young girl in the early 1890s.
Here is an even younger Hilda, in the early 1890s.
Here's a great pic of Hilda and her brother Edmund. Edmund was soon to be, if not already, a child prodigy violinist.
Edmund married Elsa Ruegger (born in Lucerne, Switzerland, in 1881), and they played together in the original Detroit String Quartet. Elsa was renowned as the greatest female cellist in the world, if not the greatest cellist in the world as sometimes referenced at the time. (There are great pictures/stories on the page for them.) Here is a picture of Hilda and her mother, Jennie. Ya gotta be in pretty good shape to wear hats of that magnitude...
Grandma Hilda was a fine pianist in her own right. She seemed very studious in this picture:
Grandma Hilda married Alfred (add the date later...); here she is in her wedding gown:
Here is Grandpa Alfred , probably as he looked on the day he and Grandma Hilda got married.
Now, going back a bit, Grandma Hilda's father was Joe. Her mother was Jennie. Following is an amazing picture of Jennie and Joe. This would seem to have been taken in the 1880s, perhaps the early 1880s, based on how young they look.
Joe's father was Julius. (Julius was the great-great-great-grandfather of Amber, Sam, Emily, Gabriel, Alexis, Julie, Melissa, Heather, Amie, Wendy, Aron (sp?) and many others, and the great-great-great-great-grandfather of a growing list of kids already.) Here is a picture with Julius, born in 1829, with Joe, born in 1858, and Hilda, and her first of three sons, Robert. This picture was taken on June 2, 1916. This is a rare four generation picture, taken almost 100 years ago. You will likely see it elsewhere on the website...
Julius looks like quite a cut-up! Would loved to have met that guy! Will have to see what more we can find out about him. If anyone out there know more about him, for instance, please contact us! Hilda's first two sons were Robert and Paul (then, Herbert Paul). Here is a picture of them, before the birth of their youngest brother, Richard.
Here is a great picture of young Richard on skates, near the family car.
Here is a test link to an index page for most the pictures of Jennie, Joe, Hilda and Edmund.
(At this point, most of those are not on any other page, and that index has no direct link back to the rest of the website, so you have to click "return" to get back here...sorry...) There are many more pictures of Grandma Hilda, but that's all for now...We can add more pictures later...it's time for bed... So, eventually everyone will have their own page(s), but for now, it makes sense to double up a bit. So, click here to go to the page for Edmund and Elsa. (Numerous great old photos of Edmund and/or Elsa exist and will be scanned; there will be pages devoted to them on this website.) So...Genetics, marriage, remarriage, adoption; it all counts! All family members, however linked, are welcome to contribute a page(s) or link(s) to the tree of pages. The more the merrier! All pictures are welcome if you would like me to post them. We may even be able to post videos if we play our cards right...! I have scanned a few pictures and will just start with those and see how it grows. Don't have much time to work on this...We will be addressing security issues regarding this website very soon.
